Sumit and Adam
Sumit and Adam were wed on September 3 with a ceremony and reception at Maritime Parc in Jersey City.
I’ve known Sumit for most of my life and we have been good family friends. So, I was really excited and honored to be a part of his day. This wedding was special to me also because it was my first gay wedding. Sumit broke a lot of barriers as one of the first openly gay members of our community. Sumit and Adam share a special love and I was so happy to be a part of their celebration. Truly, love conquers all.
This wedding was a celebration of love and was the joining not only of these two people, but also two cultures. This wedding was a fusion of a Gujarati wedding and a Jewish wedding, and you could see glimpses and traditions of both cultures throughout the day. From the traditional Indian ceremony to dancing the horah at the reception, there was such a celebration of both men and both cultures.
There were also many personal touches throughout the day. Adam and Sumit love their dog, Tate and he’s a big part of their lives. So, of course, they couldn’t get married without including him! Tate had the important task of being their ring bearer, and he walked down the aisle holding the rings. It was such a fun way to include him.
The vows they exchanged were very deep and personal. It was so touching to hear the promises they made to each other, shared before the gathered guests. More than a few tears were shed at this beautiful ceremony.
