Neha and Reece
Neha and Reece were married on October 8th, with a ceremony and reception at the Sterling Caterers in Bethpage, New York.
These two met five years ago in Los Angeles while Neha was in UCLA and Reece was working in Long Beach. They would only see each other on Saturdays because of his job and her schooling, and Reece would brave the LA traffic to come see her, since she didn’t have a car.
Six months later, Reece moved back to Oregon for his MBA, but they continued their relationship all the same. They spent two years flying back and forth to see each other before Neha graduated at last and got a job offer from Chicago. But by that point, they didn’t want to date long-distance anymore, so Reece moved to Chicago—where they were finally able to see each other every day. Now, they were ready to finally be married and promise forever to each other.
This was a 3-day affair, with the Mendhi one day, then the Puja (pre-wedding religious ceremony) the next, and then the wedding and reception. Neha’s parents are extremely traditional, so this wedding was not only a celebration of two different people coming together as one but also two families from different backgrounds coming together in celebration.
It was plain to see how much family meant to these two, especially Neha. Since she lives across the country in Portland, she doesn’t get many opportunities to see her parents and sister. So this wedding was a chance to be spoiled by her family—and by her sorority sisters, who came to the wedding as well.
This connection to family was especially obvious with the parents of the bride. Neha’s mother sat next to her during the wedding ceremony as she took Reece as her husband. It was obvious to everyone there that those two shared a beautiful, intimate connection and love. And Neha’s father had the most incredible father-daughter dance with her. He is a man of few words, but during that dance, he brought Neha to tears with his quiet words and love.
Reece & Neha, thank you so much for letting us be part of your wedding celebrations. The atmosphere of love and family that permeated your wedding was nothing short of astonishing.
