Sheena and Shaun
I met up with Sheena and Shaun at the beginning of September for three days of shooting in Iceland for their beautiful destination engagement session.
Sheena and Shaun have known each other since they were 14 years old and have basically grown up together, first becoming best friends before they fell in love. For a love as special as theirs, they wanted to do something unique for their engagement pictures, and the impressive natural beauty of Iceland fit them both perfectly.
Over the course of the days we spent together, we shot at waterfalls, hills, black sand beaches, and glaciers. With every new adventure, we developed a stronger connection to each other as well as to the raw beauty of Iceland, and I can honestly say that we enjoyed each other’s company.
While we were at the glacier lagoon, we saw small glaciers crashing into each other, and together, we were awed by the raw power of nature in Iceland. We also saw sea lions swimming around the glaciers while we were at the glacier park, and even more fantastically, we got a brief glimpse of the Northern Lights. It felt so unreal, watching those natural displays of beauty. The images at the glaciers, at the caves—all of them felt otherworldly. Even looking at them now, they look like they were done on a green screen, but I can tell you, it really is that beautiful out there.
I was particularly grateful as well not just for the natural beauty but for the help I had during the shoot. Sheena’s parents had come all the way out to Iceland to help with the shoot, and I was incredibly grateful that they did. They helped to hold the lights, fix hair and makeup, drive to locations, and generally be supportive.
Shaun & Sheena, thank you for letting me come to Iceland with you and for asking me to be part of your adventures. I will always be in awe of the beauty we found there.
